Soji Arai was born in Niigata, Japan. He is the son of second generation Korean-Japanese (Zainichi) parents. After graduating from Waseda University, he made a major impact on the Tokyo theater world with his starring role of Max in Bent directed by Robert Allan Ackerman.

Johnny, Jason, and Polo building the portal!
No time for breaks
Even when you are shooting in Ploughman’s Deli (Best Prawn Sandwiches in Houston!) there’s no time to eat (…well maybe AFTER getting that shot!). When the lighting is right, you’ve got to get that shot. Polo preps Johnny for a key scene, while sound and camera crews setup.
A mysterious meeting
Johnny and Jason set the scene for a mysterious meeting between Coyote (Soji Arai) and an unknown entity.
A tight spot
Shooting precision fight scenes in a confined space requires tremendous effort. Careful consideration and frame-level planning are only a start.
Before the effects
What’s going on here? Is Soji tazing Johnny?! Some scenes depend heavily on special effects that must be added later during post-production. Star and director Johnny Yong Bosch first conveys to the cast and crew his vision, then Johnny and Soji Arai carefully build the human element into the shot.
